Carlos Gardel bought this two-story property on June 9, 1926 and occupied it between 1927 and 1933, the year he left for Paris. Upon his death in 1935, the house was finished off. Years later, the tango house ´´La casa de Carlos Gardel´´ was inaugurated, managed by soccer leader Virgilio Machado and which operated until the eighties with orchestras and guided tours. The house is a typical house from the beginning of the century with a central patio that distributes the different rooms. During the 60s, the house was transformed into a tanguería and its owners demolished several walls, which unfortunately altered the original appearance.
At present, this museum has rooms set with original objects and period reproductions that show the different stages of the singer's life: his childhood, his national and international career, his friends, loves, affections and his passions.

In 1996, businessman Eduardo Eurnekian bought the house and in 1997, a presidential decree declared the house a national historic monument.
