Housed in a traditional building more than 300 years old, Gassho No Sato Hostel offers cosy rooms, free Wi-Fi and a shared kitchen. Apart from the bathroom and kitchen, the authentic Gassho-style (thatched roof) building is entirely made of wood, straw and bamboo. This first guest house in Shirakawa-go and Gokayama area features a garden and free parking.

The hostel offers private rooms as well as dormitory rooms that are shared with other guests. All come with traditional futon bedding on the tatami (woven-straw) floor, while toilets and bathing facilities are shared.

Simple breakfast with bread, coffee and tea is available. Guests can also bring their own food, or prepare a meal in the shared kitchen, which includes a fridge and a microwave. Please note there are no supermarkets in the area, and the nearest restaurant is a 20-minute walk away.

Built in traditional Gassho-Zukuri architecture, the charming Gassho No Sato Hostel offers a historical retreat, surrounded by nature. Guests can unwind at an irori fireplace, or explore the surroundings. The property does not offer air conditioning.

Hostel Gassho No Sato is a 10-minute walk from the Suganuma bus stop of the Sekai-Isan-Bus (world heritage bus), operated by Kaetsuno Bus Service. The bus connects with Shirakawa-go in 30 minutes, and with Johana Station in 40 minutes.
