Hotel Karyatides
Hotel Karyatides offers great value for money, a friendly, relaxed environment and comfortable accommodation in the island of Egina.
Located in the heart of Aghia Marina, Hotel Karyatides is a family-run hotel with a warm and inviting environment that has won regular visits from guests.
Karyatides provides rooms, with the majority enjoying sea or mountain views. All rooms have a balcony, a bathroom as well as facilities such as air conditioning, a hairdryer, and a refrigerator.
Relax with a refreshing drink at the hotel's open-air bar or, for some shopping and entertainment, head to the village centre nearby. There are a number of restaurants in the area and a beach, a short walk away.
Hotel Karyatides is situated only 200 metres away from Aghia Marina's port where guests can make use of the daily transportation to and from Piraeus and Athens. The island of Aegina, in the middle of the Saronic Gulf (17 nautical miles south-west of Piraeus), has been at the crossroads of cultures and rival actions for many thousands of years - from the mythical Aiakeans to the Second World War. Despite its small area (83 square km), it offers great variety and has no reason to feel jealous of other "cosmopolitan" islands. The island is easily accessible by either ferry or hydrofoil. Timetables are displayed on the various ticket offices on the quay.
To Aegina Town:
There are several ferries to Aegina from Piraeus port like the “Hellenic Seaways”, “Nova” and “Aghios Nektarios” ferry boats. There are also hydrofoils like “Hellenic Seaways” and “Vassilopoulos” and a fast catamaran service. They are generally operated from 6:00 until approximately 20:30. If you are flying overnight and are arriving in the very early morning at Athens, you can find shops, bars and restaurants open 24 hours in the airport where you can obtain refreshments before leaving for Piraeus port and Aegina. Prices of tickets vary depending on the ferry you take (EUR 4.00 – 11.00 per person). You can find the exact timetables at the ticket offices at the quay.
Swimming, snorkelling, canoeing, windsurfing and pedal boats are available at the organised beach. Scuba diving and tennis are available nearby. To relax, take a walk in the surrounding woods. Bars, discos and tavernas are located in the village.
For local sightseeing, the 5th century BC Temple of Aphaia, an interesting ancient monument with wonderful views over the Saronic Gulf, is only 2 km away. There are also a lot of historic monuments and sites of Aegina like Kapralos Museum, Hellanio Oros, Kolona Site, Aghios Nektarios Monastery and more.
Rent a car: Renting a car in Aegina is a must if you want to tour the countryside and explore several attractions on the island. Car hire gives you the freedom to explore this amazing area at your own pace.
The recently renovated hotel consists of 30 bedrooms, TV lounge, garden café-bar, breakfast room and reception desk.
From its commanding position close to the organised beach (just 50m), the majority of the bedrooms have a marvellous ocean or mountain view. The island’s longest beach is just a stone’s throw away and around the corner you will find numerous restaurants with excellent cuisine and anything else you can expect to find in a highly developed tourist resort. As all of the rooms have a balcony, you can either sit there and enjoy your breakfast or go to the yard to the café-bar, where you can design your breakfast to suit your personal tastes. If you feel like shopping, the hotel itself is situated in the village centre, where you can find everything you need.
