Presentation
Curaçao, to the surprise of many, had Dutch colonization and is now an autonomous country belonging to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Along Aruba and Bonaire, it is part of the ABC Islands: three small islands located very close to the northern coast of Venezuela. However, there is no relationship between the island and the country (nor is it very similar to Los Roques - a beautiful archipelago belonging to Venezuela - besides the wonderful waters and geographical location).
Curaçao is 444km2 in area and can visit almost all the main points of the island in a 4 or 5 day trip. The capital of Curaçao is Willemstad, a city divided into two parts: Punta and Otrobanda.
The name Curacao, contrary to what many people think, has nothing to do with "heart" but "healing" - the art of healing. It was given by Portuguese navigators who cured their scurvy on arrival on the island, probably because of the fruits they ate there.

Official language
The official language of the island is Papiamento, but there they also speak English, Dutch and Spanish fluently.
Local currency
The official currency of Curaçao is Florin (Naf). The US dollar is fully accepted, although sometimes you will receive change in guilders when paying in dollars.
Tourist points
The island has excellent hospitality and great cuisine. Major lodging options and more structured beaches are in the south, near the capital Willemstad. Most virgin beaches are close to the north or, more precisely, between the northern tip and the capital.
Klein Curaçao, a small island without any structure, is visited from day-long boat (or helicopter) rides. The ride is magnificent!
Curacao is well served as a resort. You will find beautiful beaches, beach clubs and great restaurants.
The interesting thing about the island is to rent a car and explore the wildest regions and the most beautiful beaches.
Curacao's main activities are probably diving and snorkeling, but there is much more to do there. Flyboard, jet ski or speedboat rides, Parasail, SUP and beach tennis are available at various points on the island, especially Jan Thiel and Seaquarium Beach.
Curaçao is also famous for its constant winds. Sunny days, clear waters and strong winds create the perfect conditions for windsurfing.
Curacao also has a national park and a beautiful and huge Aloe Vera plantation. It is possible to make various buggy rides there.
