Therefore this day is declared a holiday in the Province of Camaná´´.
The foundation
The sixteenth century witnesses who witnessed the baptismal ceremony that took place in the Camaná Valley believe that talking about the founders is a separate chapter. They deserve to talk about each one of them even briefly, as a just tribute of gratitude to those illustrious and hard-working men who designated that this valley was the appropriate one to establish in it a great Spanish urban center, which would serve as a link between the two great capitals of the time: Lima, the city of the Kings, capital of the government, and Cusco, the old imperial capital, whose possession and ownership were cruelly disputed by the two partners of the conquest: Francisco Pizarro and Diego de Almagro. The documents of the conquest indicate as participants of the First founding of the Villa Hermosa in the Camaná Valley, the following person: El Capitan Español Don
Manuel Garcia de Carbajal
This city, due to health reasons, was abandoned towards the end of 1539, which led to the foundation of Arequipa.
Another person of importance comes from Medellín, Bajadoz in Extremadura and he is Mr. Alonso Martínez de Rivera, born in Medellín, Bajadoz, Extremadura, Spain, Conqueror of Peru. Corregidor of Arequipa in 1556 and, later by mandate of the III Viceroy of Peru, D. Andrés Hurtado de Mendoza, carried out the Second Foundation of the today city of Camaná, it was called Villa de San Miguel de Ribera in honor of his last name. He died in Chile in August 1600. In Arequipa in 1587 he married Da. Isabel de Contreras. His daughter Da. Catalina Martínez de Rivera y de Contreras married Mr. Hernando de la Torre y Padilla, son of the famous Conquistador Mr. Juan de la Torre and Díaz Chacón, one of the Thirteen of Fame or Gallo Island, who accompanied the Conquistador D. Francisco Pizarro.

Tourist places
Beaches
This city has beaches that are some of the most beautiful in the south of the country, and they have an area of 20 kilometers.
Pucchun: Famous Hacienda that served as lodging for the Arequipa poet Mariano Melgar where he lived with his beloved Silvia. The great sage Don Antonio Raimondi, was another of the illustrious men of Peru who stayed in these places. Many years ago there was the famous lagoon that was the largest in the region and where a great variety of wild birds abounded and also served as refuges for birds that constantly migrated; It is said that the first inhabitants of Camana used the multicolored plumage of these birds to make their valuable and beautiful cloaks, the testimonies of which have been found in the different archaeological cemeteries in our area. The famous Laguna de Pucchun has disappeared due to the voracity of man to turn it into an agricultural area by diverting its waters to the sea through a pumping plant. One of the main characters in this area was undoubtedly Don Felipe Rodríguez Beltrán, who unfortunately died tragically and cowardly murdered.
Sanctuary of Quilca: The festival that represents the Sanctuary of Quilca, is one of the greatest attractions for locals and foreigners, annually the sacred Virgin of Candelaria, congregates on February 2 a large mass of faithful arrived, even from abroad, to venerate his holy presence; she has been declared the patron saint of the town.
Las Calaveritas: Tradition and the belief in skulls have allowed the construction of the chapel on the famous curve at the exit of Pescadores, who circulate around the patron saint and stops to present their prayers and salutations, lighting their candles as a sign of profound mystical respect. It is said that many years ago they were found by workers who, according to reason, built the Pan-American highway on the Lima slope, first they made a hermitage with crushed stones, years later the Chapel was built with the intervention of the remembered Parish Priest of Ocoña Oswaldo Alemán, who all the months he celebrated a mass with the presence of many faithful, today it has become a mandatory stop for drivers of thailers, merchants and drivers of minor vehicles, who profess great faith in them, since, according to tradition, they are very miraculous but also very punishing.
Chira Beach: Its beaches form a very attractive cove, becoming a popular resort for the Ocoñejas families, adjacent to the Guaneras Islands and according to tradition, there is a hidden treasure by colonial pirates who constantly assaulted the escutcheons.
Pacaysitos: A place that becomes a great link in our history because there we can appreciate the ancient faces of the settlers who settled in our valley, a historic place starting from the River Bridge upwards at a time of 50 minutes, along a worthy narrow road of an adventure, located in front of the district of San Gregorio on the right bank of the Camaná river. This sacred place built by our ancestors, has a wall that surrounds and protects the Castle hill as if it had been of great importance, due to its zeal in protecting or rather a huaca, from the top of this guardian you can see the green savannah and the silver thread of our river. Also in the lower part we find petroglyphs that according to archaeologists would have an antiquity of 4 thousand years, on the other side we find an immense Pre-Inca cemetery looted by the huaqueros, this small but great archaeological park is silent witness of the habitability of the ancient Camaniense settlers .
River mouth: It is known as ´´Chiflón´´ is little known and very few also know how to appreciate the almost natural phenomenon that occurs when the mighty Camana river enters the bowels of the sea in the enormous delta that the river forms in the presence of the Pacific Ocean; In this somewhat unknown area, small lagoons and pools are formed that serve for shrimp reproduction. Our river is born in the heights of the Sabancaya and in its route it irrigates lands in the provinces of Caylloma, Castilla and Camana, traveling thousands of kilometers, which is why it takes the name of Colca, where the famous Colca Canyon is located, then majes al pass through the well-known valley and later Camana when arriving at these lands.
