The Château d'Oiron in the Deux-Sèvres department of western France. It has its origins in the war of the fifteenth century with the English for the control of France, when a victorious Charles VII of France gave the dominion and the great forest of Oiron to Guillaume Gouffier, that became governor of Touraine. This castle is the backdrop to the fairy tale of Charles Perrault, Puss in Boots. The mistress of King Louis XIV, Madame de Montespan, was one of the residents of the place.
