This town is the mother of skiing, since the first wooden skis arrived there from Switzerland in the 1930s. In this way, towards the 1940s, the residents continued working for the growth of the town and managed to build one of the first hotels in Farellones. As time went by, this place was gaining great followers of skiing and the first lift was installed in the area, which would later become the El Colorado - Farellones Ski Center, the largest in South America.

Farellones Ski Center

Nestled in the "farellones" of the Andes mountain range is the Farellones ski center, 40 kilometers from Santiago de Chile.

Leaving Santiago towards the East (Avda. Kennedy and Avda. Las Condes), take the Camino a Farellones. The road is paved and it is 35 km to Farellones. From there it is 5 km. more to El Colorado. Traffic is controlled by the Carabineros and it is mandatory to wear snow chains. Between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., the transit is only going up and between 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. only going down





Farellones is one of the mountain villages that offers impressive landscapes both in winter and in summer, which is why it impresses with its natural beauty, and is a privileged destination for outdoor sports such as skiing, Mountain Bike, Trekking, Randonee Skiing and Tubing.
