It is one of the most important art exhibition centers in the country and has the most significant collection of paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries by Argentine and foreign artists such as Prilidiano Pueyrredón, Ernesto de la Cárcova, Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir, Rodin, Picasso, Kandinsky, Miró, Sívori, Castagnino, de la Cárcova, Quinquela Martín and Soldi among others. It has rooms for painting, sculpture and tapestry of the pre-renaissance, impressionism and postmodernism; as well as a library considered the most important in the country specialized in art subjects.

Scattered in the green areas surrounding the museum are some interesting sculptures, among which are: Hercules, the archer, The Last Centaur and The Captive.
